Warm Glow and Shiny Surface

Tom Dixon Copper Shade pendant is made of two materials, copper and polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is a synthetic produced material with excellent optic characteristics and a shiny surface.

The production method, where vacuum metalizing of the inner polycarbonate, creates soft and beautiful light.

Copper is also used in solar cells and microwave radiation and makes the lamp give a warm glow.

The warm, metallic gleam gives the lamp that unique look, and the lamp is almost like a shiny, yet minimalistic piece of art.

Tom Dixon’s Copper Shade pendant is a “soft” light source that works great alone or grouped as a modern copper chandelier.

Tom Dixon’s Copper Shade pendant is available in two sizes: 45 cm (width) / 41 cm (height) – 25 cm (width) / 22,5 cm (height).

The Man behind the Design

Tom Dixon is not trained designer, but is self-taught. His sense for aesthetics and use of metals has made him successful and has made his name a brand in itself.

He was born in Tunisia and moved to Britain when he was 4 years old. He dropped out of Chelsea School of Arts after one semester.

From then, he worked for Cappellina and Habitat, among many. Tom Dixon sees it as an advantage not being educated within design and arts.

He feels like there are no boundaries, which has resulted in creating his own.

There has been room for making mistakes and thereby experimenting and developing. Through this philosophy, he has developed his very own take on design.

The famous S-chair is designed by Tom Dixon, and he sees this experience as an important step in his development within the world of design.

In 2002, he founded Tom Dixon, which has been a story of success. He offers a great selection and his Copper Shade pendant is just one of many unique lamps.
