Konsepti: Vuonna 1955, kun Alvar Aalto oli Helsingin kulttuurielämän hallitseva hahmo, Ilmari Tapiovaara esitteli itsensä ensimmäisenä suomalaisena suunnittelijana, joka ei ollut arkkitehti. Hän oli tuolien ja huonekalujen asiantuntija ja loi ainoan ja ainutlaatuisen kotitalousvalaisimen: Maijan. Maija-mallisto antaa valon tunteen Baltian kaupungeissa, joissa kadut ovat hädin tuskin valaistuja lukuun ottamatta valoa, joka paistaa sisään kodin ja myymälän ikkunoista: sisältä ja ulkoa. Tapiovaara on tästä inspiroitunut ja luonut piparkakkurakenteen, joka koostuu pinotuista metalliviipaleista, jotka suodattavat iloisen sisäisen valon.
