Presenting NUURA

Nuura is a new exciting Danish design brand who have already established a name for themselves on the Danish design scene. The Danish lighting company was launched at the 2018 Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair, where they presented four incredible collections: Anoli, Liila, Miira, and Blossi.

Nuura's design philosophy is very clear; they want to create lighting that engender people's happiness. They obtain this by creating lamps which have a positive affect on a person's well-being through carefully chosen materials and colours.

”Nuura means light and honour. We create aesthetic lighting, which mirror the abundance and joy found in Nordic nature.” – Nuura

Nuura manage to create aesthetic lamps of the highest quality. The design has distinct parallels to the Nordic style, which above all emphasise simplicity and sensuousness.

SOFIE REFER

The award winning Danish lighting designer Sofie Refer is Chief Designer at Nuura. Sofie Refer finds inspiration in the Scandinavian design traditions. Her designs exude respect for both nature and simplicity - two factors which characterise her unique designs.

"I am deeply inspired by the unique Nordic light. I strive to balance simplicity and greatness while creating light that has a sleek yet sensuous look and feel." – Sofie Refer

Sofie's starting point is always a chandelier and then she designs the product family. This approach is evident in the four collections Sofie has designed for Nuura; all of them will bring the Nordic design look and feel into your home.

In this week's LimeLight episode Sofie explains her thoughts behind the design of the different designfamilies. Here she elaborates on her design philosophy and describes the special touches she has added to each collection.

NUURA: ANOLI

The Anoli collection is designed as individual elegant raindrops. This is a reference to the Nordic autumn rain and the unique light which accompany it. The sophisticated suspension lamps from the Anoli range are high quality craftmanship products; the pendants are mouthblown and handpainted. The pendant gives off a warm light, creating a calmness in the room. The Anoli pendant from Nuura provides an atmosphere of Nordic light in the home and is great as mood lighting.

NUURA: BLOSSI

The Blossi collection from Nuura gives a soft indirect light. The beautifully rounded shades add a distinct Nordic look to the lamps of the Blossi collection. In addition to great craftsmanship the Blossi lamps are also equipped with the newest LED-technology which is built-in its centre. This positioning prevents glare while ensuring a soft and embracing light.

NUURA: LIILA

This gorgeous lamp from Nuura is a piece of art in itself. The lamps from the Liila collection brings the light to life with a magical reflection on the wall. Liila means 'divine play' and is the inspiraiton for both the collection and its name. Liila radiates elegance and simplicity with its calm and soothing light. The lamps are made from high quality mouthblown glass and a metal base. A combination that underlines the incredible contrast between materials thus creating a sleek and fashionably exclusive look.
