Design: Torafu Architects
Concept: In collaboration with Audo and designed by Torafu Architects, the Ishinomaki AA stool is as simple as it is versatile. Handmade in Denmark from locally grown Danish Douglas fir, the handcrafted stool pushes the boundaries of DIY. Named after the shape of its profile, the stool offers unrivalled flexibility by having an untreated finish so it can be customised to the look you want. Exposed screws, dimensional timber and a handcrafted look emphasise how innovative simplicity can be. The stool can be used individually or in combination to create a wider seat, which is why two stools are included in each pack.
About the design: Ishinomaki Laboratory started in Japan in 2011 in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake, helping communities rebuild themselves through simple, do-it-yourself furniture workshops with available materials and few skills. The spirit of the initiative lives on in the Ishinomaki Laboratory today, empowering communities around the world with DIY skills.
